Jebavy begins these complex works by setting up glassware still lives and filling the vessels with various liquids. She photographs the still life, including the shadows cast on the wall, and then builds a montage of the images on Photoshop and projects it onto the canvas using that outline as a reference on which to layer more and more intricate patterns. These paintings frame the idea of domestic interiors as sanctuaries. The sensuality of the glassware holds the history of still life traditions, yet through abstraction and scale, expands the reference to become a mystical sensory experience achieved through the layers of reflection and overlays, light and shadow.
